Join us for a dynamic, hands-on one-day training designed for educators from upper elementary through high school.  Educators will receive certification in Project Learning Tree (PLT) and the Explore Your Environment: K-8 Activity Guide.

This Chemical Immobilization Workshop will be taught by Dr. John Bryan, Dr. James Johnson, and Adrianna Mowrer on March 20-21, 2025 at Flinchum's Phoenix and the UGA Deer Research Facility. 

Course 1 covers the first four chapters in the National Pesticide Applicator Certification Core Manual Second Edition from 2014. This course is designed to prepare you for the Core Pesticide Safety exam (formerly the General Standards test) for commercial applicators.

Course 2 covers chapters 5 through 7 of the National Core Manual and is designed to prepare you for the portion of the commercial applicator’s core exam that covers the topics pesticide hazards and first aid, personal protective equipment, and pesticides in the environment. The course is interactive and self-guided; you may skip sections of each chapter or entire chapters if you so choose.

Course 3 covers chapters 8 through 11 of the National Core Manual and is designed to prepare you for the portion of the commercial applicator’s core exam that covers the topics transportation, storage, and security, emergency incident response, planning the pesticide application, and pesticide application procedures. The course is both interactive and self-guided; you may skip sections of each chapter or entire chapters if you so choose.

This page is for paying for the 4-hour self-paced modulated online course titled "Deer Management and Forestry Best Management Practices".  This course is worth 4.0 Cat 1 Continuing Forestery Education credits (CFEs), and 3.0 Cat B and 1.0 Cat A Georgia Master Timber Harvester (MTH) credits.  

The registration cost is $120.00.

This course is designed to familiarize Georgians who are not, and do not, need to be licensed certified pesticide applicators with the basic principles of pesticide safety. Pesticide applicators in Georgia are not required to have any pesticide training unless they are using a restricted-use product or they apply any pesticide for a fee.

This ZOOM course will be led by Dr. James Johnson on May 29, 2025.  Registration is $120.00.
 

International visiting professor fee (one month, not proratable)

This one-day course is an introduction to good agricultural practices. Small-scale fruit and vegetable growers will learn skills necessary to draft a food safety plan, identify safety concerns, and build knowledge on certifications and resources.

This course will be taught by Dr. David Dickens and Dr. David Clabo on August 19-20, 2025. Registration by August 05, 2025 is $325.00. After August 05 the cost is $375.00.

This program has been designed to meet the USDA’s training requirements and is accredited by the International HACCP Alliance, whose goal is to provide standardized training for the meat and poultry industries in HACCP principles. The course curriculum was developed by the American Meat Science Association to help processors understand, develop and apply Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) principles in their production operations.

This course will be taught by Dr. David Dickens and Dr. David Clabo on September 16-17, 2025 at the Tift County Extension Office—Conference Room 1468 Carpenter Road South, Tifton, GA 31794
